Super lightweight boxer Hamza ‘The Templer’ Sempewo returned to the ring last weekend emerging victorious against Tanzanian Amos Mwamakula in non title contest at Club Obligato.
Despite succumbing to a loss against Fred Muhumuza in December last year, this particular triumph seems to have washed away boxing fans’ nightmares. A visibly jubilant crowd rose at their feet on Sunday night as they chanted all sorts of praise at Sempewo who phased out the Tanzanian at start of the fourth round in a record 2 minutes and 17 seconds.
Prior the fight, hope was at over-flow, as fans foretold Sempewo’s ten round less victory. Fortunately, ‘The Templer’ did not disappoint his fans. Currently, boxing as a sport with new leaders, and refreshing Sempewo and Mustafa ‘The Snake’ Katende victories, fans will ultimately look forward to other breath-taking bouts.
The art of combining Kickboxing and boxing bouts can also be embraced to share support in a move to improve both. However, respect of time remains an issue the organising bodies have to tackle.
