The Chinese Government has continued to offer generous assistance to the development of sports in Uganda with yet another gesture where four Ugandan Martial Artists are leaving for China (On Friday) aboard Ethiopian Airlines to Beijing for three month’s duration.
The 4 lucky Ugandans are, Mark Ogwang (Taekwondo), Zubair Nsubuga (Kickboxing) Moses Kiwanuka (Karate) and Peter Wamala (Kungu fu/wushu) , the latter is the head of delegation.
Speaking at the official flag off Ceremony conducted at the National Council of Sports premises in Lugogo on Friday morning, the NCS Secretary General, Jasper Aligawesa,who represented the State Minister of Sports, Hon Charles Bakabulindi, thanked the Government of China for the offer.
“Special credit goes to Minister Bakabulindi for making this move eminent.I challenge you to make good friends, and perform to your best to develop your careers”, he urged the Martial Artists.
The group is due to leave Entebbe International Airport on Friday (1 am) by Ethiopian Airlines.
The Chinese Government will fully facilitate the 4 in the 3 months of their stay in China with accomodation, feeding, return air tickets and internal transport allowances.
“I am very honored to be part of the group traveling to China and i promise to build a big net work of new friends, learn new skills and build my mental and spiritual strength as well”, the head of delegation, Peter Wamala, a Kungu Fu specialist told Kawowo Sports in an interview shortly after.
The Ugandan Government promised to give 100 Us Dollars to each athelete per month for the entire duration of their training in China.
