DMARK Chess Club clinched the National Chess League title for the second time in a row after hammering MUBS 5-0 in the last game of the league played on Sunday at Hotel Africana.
The DMARK Assault on MUBS was led by FM Harold Wanyama, Solomon Lubega, John Kikonyogo and Caxton Kalule.
The win propelled DMARK to 88.5 points, 5 ahead of second place City Chess Club whose 3.5-1.5 win against Mulago Rooks was not sufficient to upstage the leaders on the last day of the league.
Mulago Kings, Lweza Kings and Aviation Chess Club finished in third, fourth and fifth places respectively out of 22 clubs.
The league winners were awarded with a trophy and decorated with Gold medals by UCF officials. City Chess Club players received Silver medals while Mulago Kings players were decorated with bronze medals.
Sharon Twongyeire of Aviation Chess Club emerged as the overall best player in the league having played 15 games and won all, a 100% record.
