Ten years down the road, Abbey Bagalana, a Jinja golf product is still striving to become the best golfer Uganda has to offer.

Despite having participated in several tournaments including the Burundi Open, Bagalana is still hungry for more and ready to take his career to the next level.

“In 2014, I want to be one of the best golf players in the country.” Bagalana told UBC TV. “I want to be a role model of the upcoming golfers in Uganda.” he added

Bagalana who plans to take part in the South Africa Golf Challenge set to commence this October admits the pressure is upon him to perform.

“The South African Open is an event which builds pressure and may be builds an individual’s career because they are many players who are good to compete with.” he said.

The best golfers will have to compete first – in the qualifiers, then the final competition. Bagalana is hopeful that he will make it through the qualifiers. This open will be one of his major competitions this year.
