Woodball Beginner’s Workshop: 11th -12 October 2013

Ahead of the 4th Edition of the Uganda Woodball open slated for 12th-13th October 2013 at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Nakawa, the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) has organized a two day beginner’s course where about 80 participants to help and en light the general public about the game.
A powerful delegation from the International Woodball Federation (IWbF) is in the country to conduct a coaching course. It is the first of its kind in Uganda and on the African continent.
Two instructors from Chinese Taipei Professor Nick Chun Ching Huang- General Secretary and Administrative Secretary Shu-Han Lu- of the IWbF arrived in the country on Wednesday.
Since their arrival on Wednesday this week, they have visited Motherwell Junior School in Mutungo and Ndejje University where they conducted Woodball clinics for the players.
Speaking at the official practical lessons of the woodball in the MUBS gardens, Professor Nick Haung said, the game of woodball is practical and needs a lot of concentration.
“Woodball requires practice and the more you practice, the more you perfect it”, the Professor said. Paul Mark Kayongo, the African Woodball President who also has been personally engaged in the practicals commended the particiapants for the spirit exhibited.
In Ndejje, the IWbF delegation also inspected the four machines at the workshop that will be used to produce Woodball equipment.
The two day course that will have the theory and practical sessions will help the coaches pick some skills ahead of the Uganda Open that gets underway on Saturday afternoon and ends on Sunday at MUBS, Nakawa. The course is also a foundation to attaining the International coaching badge.
Uganda has two International certified coaches Mr. Joe Collins Ssemanda (UWbF General Secretary) and Mr. Paul Mark Kayongo (President of Uganda Woodball Federation.
