2 Institutions, one a financial entity, Bank of Uganda and another in the education business, Ndejje University almost had a clean sweep of the 5thedition of the Uganda Woodball Open that concluded at the MUBS, Nakawa arena over the weekend.

Ndejje University’s Joel Adupa (overall winner men) and the phenomenal Lillian Zawedde (ladies) won the main category. Adupa carded scores of 144 over the two days of Saturday and Sunday while Zawedde scored 166 to claim the male and female respective gender accolades.

Ndejje University also won both the men’s and ladies team events, the double pairs and the mixed doubles.

The duo of Bank of Uganda’s Godwin Nakana Ssennyondo and Esther Akullo won the men and ladies’ corporate categories with scores of 56 and 66 respectively.

In the juniors’ event, Motherwell Junior school Mutungo had a clean sweep with the top two positions in both genders. Deng Santino and Shirat Namakula carded 61 and 74 respective scores to top the boys and girls positions.

“The level of competition was awesome and personally I was impressed by the huge turn up of participants”, remarked a Uganda Woodball Federation official, John Baptist Kateregga.

The 5th Uganda Woodball open followed a successful beginners’ two day workshop at the MUBS Main library that include theory and practical woodball classes.

The course was conducted by Professor Nick Chun Ching Huang , who is also the General Secretary of the IWbF, the World’s woodball governing body.

Focus now shifts to the 5th Ndejje University Woodball Open that will be staged at the main campus of the institution in Luweero District on the 26th October 2013 before the beach woodball circuit to come in November at Lido Sand Beach, in Entebbe.
