Kawowo.com followed the exploits of Ugandans playing their football outside of the country over the weekend. It was one of mixed fortunes for some but many were influential in their team’s glamorous performances as Ismael Kiyonga reports

Hamis Kiiza (Yanga SC – TZ):

The Cranes striker’s fine form continued as he bagged a brace in the Dar es Salaam derby in the 3-3 draw on Sunday against Simba SC at the National Stadium, Dar es Salam. The striker struck in the 35th and 45th minute after Mrisho Ngassa had opened the scoring in the 14th minute. As it stands, Kiiza has now scored five goals this season in the Vodacom Premier League.

Abbey Dhaira & Joseph Owino (Simba SC – Tanzania):

Uganda Cranes goalie Abbey Dhaira was between the posts as Simba SC drew 3-3 with Yanga in the Dar es Salaam. Ex-URA FC defender was amongst Simba’s goal scorers netting the second goal for Msimbazi in the 55th minute.

Ibrahim Ssekagya (New York Red Bulls – USA):

Former Uganda Cranes skipper Ibrahim Ssekagya scored his first Major League Soccer goal for New York Red Bull as they beat Houston Dynamo 3-0 to go top of the Eastern Conference. The towering defender hit the back of the net in the 65th minute. Tim Cahill and Bradley Wright Phillips scored the other goals.

Johnson Bagoole & Mustapha Kasolo (Sofapaka – Kenya):

Ugandans midfielder Johnson Bagoole and striker Mustapha Kasolo were on the losing side as Sofapaka lost 2-0 to AFC Leopards in the Go TV shield Cup semi-finals. Bagoole played the entire game while Kasolo was substituted for Kenyan Eugene Asike in the 74th minute.

Ivan Anguyo & Israel Emuge (Gor Mahia FC – Kenya):

Ex-Express FC, KCC FC and Kiira Young centre back Israel Emuge was instrumental for Gor Mahia as they cruised past Sony Sugars 4-2 on spot kicks in the Go TV Shield Cup semi-finals.

Ivan Anguyo was an unused substitute while on form striker Dan Sserunkuma was a last minute omission from the team after suffering an injury in the warm up.
