Sport-S Vs KAVC-1pm
Nemostars Vs Nkumba-3pm
Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) and Sport – S are two absolutely different sides with a very rich history in the history of Uganda’s Volleyball. In between the two teams, there lies 7 league titles, with the latter accruing a record 4 domestic league accolades.
Both teams have got varying philosophies, approaches and mentalities towards the game especially when during game situations and matches that matter most.
This weekend the two sides face off in the League Semi-final play-offs in a battle to draw the line who adds another title to their already glittering trophy cabinet.
“We are set mentally for the task ahead of us”, KAVC’s Veteran Hannington Nsubuga speaks ahead of the match scheduled at 1 pm at the Makerere University Business School, Nakawa Arena courts.
Nsubuga and his entire KAVC charges are in the right frame of mind having laboured to break Nemostar’s 38 match virginity two weeks back.
In the other semifinal play-offs, the league’s defending Champions and 2013 National Championships victors, Nemostars face a tricky Nkumba University in the second men’s play-offs.
The ladies’ affair will witness Nkumba University host KAVC in the game’s early fixture of the day before defending Champions, Ndejje University Elites face Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA).
Ndejje University have had their own version of internal wrangles particularly concerning the absolute commitment of head coach, Johnson Kawenyera. The coach, formerly from Nkumba University guided the Elites to success last year has been watching the last two of the club’s matches from the side sides and inside sources indicate there may be a rift between the technical stuff and some of the players.
Should the Ndejje Elites fail to get control of that alarming situation within a record time, Nkumba University led by the history making coach, Tonny Lakony of the Uganda National Lady Cranes, will be itching to cause an upset.
Elsewhere, Sky Volleyball club plays Wazeei while Namboole hosts Destiny before Mulago entertains Gulu in the serie C play-offs. These games kick off at 11 am.
