Hopefully the intrigue and squabbling in Ugandan boxing is done and all over if so then in the boxing ring the referee would say BOX for the match to start, the new executive at Uganda Boxing Federation has unveiled an ambitious 14 event calendar for the season 2014.

“We have unveiled an ambitious boxing calendar that will see hopefully attempt to cover it through out the year 2014,” Kenneth Gimugi, the Uganda Boxing Federation president said at their general assembly on Saturday. “He have given the club’s our programme and have also include the issues of affiliation for membership and all.”

The UBF calendar will roll with the National Open Championships from January 12-19 at Lugogo Volleyball grounds, then from February 23-27 it will be time for schools to out box each other in the National Schools Championships at the same venue. 

“The club’s have been given the code of conduct and we hope they stick to them, but while we would want to see the sport running smoothly we face quite a few challenges here at their,” Gimugi said. “We have to update our membership with world amateur boxing body AIBA if we want to be fully on track.”

UBF owes AIBA $250 which they will pay other events included in the calendar are Biika Bya Buganda Boxing Championships in March , AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship in April, Inter Regions Boxing tournament in May, Inter-Cities Boxing Tournament in June, Major General Nyangweso Boxing Tournament in July, Commonwealth Games in July, Youth Olympic Games in August, AIBA Women Boxing Championship in October and lastly the Bingwa Ya Bingwa boxing championships at a date yet to be announced.
