Uganda will make its debut at the Africa Junior Swimming Championships due on November 28-December 1 in Lusaka, Zambia.
Uganda has entered a team of four swimmers that has Arnold Kisulo, Elisha Ekirikubinza, Jethro Ssengonzi and Rebecca Ssegonzi.
“We are making our debut at this continental swimming championship and we hope we shall do well on our debut,” Muzafaru Muwanguzi, the national swimming coach said. “This is the biggest event in Africa and brings together the best in the continent so we are going their to gain experience and also to exposure our national swimmers.”
Kisulo is a specialist in 200 meters Backstroke, 100 meters Backstroke and 200 meters Individual Medley while Ekirikubinza specialises in 100 and 200 meters Breaststroke.
The Africa Junior Swimming Championship is held every after two years with the last event being held in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 2011.
Uganda Swimming Federation will use their debut as a warm up for next year’s CANA Zone III and IV swimming championships that will be held in Kampala, Uganda in April, next year.
