The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has sponsored the National Squash team, offering it 5 million shillings to take part in the Parklands Open International Squash Tournament in Westlands Village, Nairobi, Kenya from Monday 11th to Saturday 16th November 2013.
Handing over the sum of 5 million shillings on behalf of Ssabasajja Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II, Buganda Government Attorney General, Apollo Makubuya wished the team success in the tournament, adding that the Kabaka hoped they would return with many accolades.
The national squash contingent which departed for Nairobi on Saturday 9th, consisted of four players and their coach who will team up to compete against rival countries namely, Zambia, Malawi and hosts Kenya among others. According the National Squash and Racket Association, only four players were summoned due to financial constraints though strategies are being developed to accommodate more players in the next tournaments.
