Hard tackling and visionary ball passer, Darren Sentuya Kizito, an 18 year old Ugandan born teenager, currently plays the right back for Watford under 18 side, a team to which he is contracted till 2014.
He harbors a big life time dream of becoming one of the few Ugandans to have played in the English Premier League.
7 years ago, an infant Sentuya then aged 11 left Gayaza, a Kampala City Suburb town in the Pearl of African Country, Uganda for the United Kingdom in the Middlesex County, England.
A diligent and committed team player, he joined Lampton School and as soon as immediately, his skills on the ball and aerial prowess rewarded him a worthwhile place on the school football team where he featured till 2011.
Born to Uganda parents, Derrick Sentuya and Jane Umutesi in Kampala, Sentuya was lucky to catch the eyes of the many football scouts always on the watch out for the best excelling school talent as he landed a dream call up to the Junior Bees football team for the season 2007-2008.
This was after a match that involved Lampton and Heston schools where a Junior Bees’ coach, a one Peter Mayers spotted the aggressiveness of a young player and he was signed there and then.
“One time, when Junior Bees were out for a fixture against AFC Hayes, I played well and they signed me”, Sentuya a grandson to former Kampala city mayor, Ssebana Kizito reveals to Kawowo Sports.
Trek to Junior Watford Side
At AFC Hayes, a semi pro side, Sentuya nick-named “Sagna”, for his hard tackling and effortless marauding runs at the right back, (just like the Arsenal right back star), he worked hard match in-match out to ensure individual and team excellence.
The young man’s toil on the soccer field was rewarded as landed a dream invitation to train with the Watford Under 18 Junior team.
Luckily, as the adage goes, ‘fortune favours the prepared’, Sentuya, was well prepared as he passed the Watford trials with flying colours and has a running contract of 2 years with the side till 2014.
“I will maintain my good work ethics and inter-personal relations on and off the pitch to see a promotion to the Watford reserve team then I will be peeping to the senior side in next year.”, the 18 year old home side full back cum central defender, who is set to visit her home country in December reveals.
At the moment, it is good news as Sentuya’s family is finalizing the preparations of his duo-citizenship status and who knows, Uganda Under age teams will once grant him that golden opportunity to don those beloved Black-Yellow and Red Strips to represent the mother country, Uganda as a stepping stone to The Mighty Uganda Cranes team in the tomorrow years to come.
Success Darren.
