Fifty kids from various schools attended the first Uganda Lawn Tennis Association grassroots tennis camp recently at Center Court tennis club, Lugogo.
“It’s something that will be running every year and we shall be spreading around the country for now we have started with Kampala and next time we shall move up to Arua, Jinja and Entebbe and elsewhere,” Cedric Babu, the Uganda Lawn Tennis Association president said.
“This is part of ULTA long term development programme and we believe we shall develop several youngsters through such camps.”
The camp is being run by several tennis coaches and former tennis players from various clubs in and around the country.
National tennis coach John Oduke, tennis player Moses Otiti, former national tennis player/golfer Ronald Bukenya, ULTA administrator John Kasule are some of the several coaches and players handling the camp that is managed by Kinetic Trust and is sponsored by Lacoste, sports wear company.
