Two weeks ago, Tornado B claimed their first Multiple Industries Division One 50-Over League title in their 11-year history after a 56-run win over Rounders at Jinja SS Oval.
But the season is not entirely over for the men in green and orange colours. With 67 points and yet to concede defeat in 13 outings, Tornado B can finish the season unbeaten if they win their remaining two ties against SKLPS and rivals Tornado.
After playing Tornado in the National 30-Over League final yesterday, the men in green and orange colours re-group again to face bottom side SKLPS at the lakeside oval in Entebbe today.
“We won this year’s league upon promotion,” Tornado B skipper Jeremy Kibuuka Musoke said. “If we win our remaining two games, we’ll have finished unbeaten and that’s another record.”
While Tornado B have showed batting articulacy against all opponents, struggling SKLPS have lost all their outings and are yet to score a point.
Despite the absence of Roger Mukasa, Charles Waiswa and Patrick Ochan who are away at the ICC Global World Cup Qualifiers in UAE, Kibuukamusoke will bank on Lawrence Ssematimba’s rising form that has averaged 58 runs in three innings this month.
Elsewhere, U-19 stars Faruk Ochimi and Abdalah Lubega will be the main spines as former champions Patidar Samaj (22) play Rounders at the Kyambogo Oval.
