Fifty coaches, life guards, pool attendants are attending the first Life saving swimming clinic that will end on Thursday at La Grande Hotel, Bwaise.
“Close to one hundred swimming coaches, life guards, pool attendant are taking part in this life saving swimming clinic,” Moses Kalanzi, the coordinator of Swim Safe Uganda said. “The clinic is conducted by the president of Surf Lifesaving Association, Mauritius Viraj Ramaharai.”
The clinic was officially opened by National Council of Sports general secretary Jasper Aligawesa and the Uganda Swimming Federation president Don Rukare.
The four day clinic will see the participants learn skills Aquatic CPR, Water Treatment, Rope throw, rescue skills, carrying and lifting, role of a lifeguard and ways of preventing swimmers from drowning.
“I believe this clinic will go in a long way in helping us understand and gain good skills in life saving in the country,” Kalanzi stressed. “It is not the first and last that will be held we intend to have more invents like this to come.”
Swim Safe Uganda with technical help from Uganda Swimming Federation is organising this four day life saving swimming clinic.
