Full time score: G4S Pirates 21-08 Mutoni Warriors

G4S Pirates earned their maiden triumph in the 2013/2014 Nile Special Super 8 Rugby League last Saturday, a trip to Lira against Lira Bulls. The home side lost 35-0 leaving Pirates who were the visitors, hungry for more of the same.

Now G4S Pirates seem to have gained the winning momentum from last weekend after the special addition of rising star, Ivan Magomu to their squad from Namilyango College. Consequently, Friday 6th at Legends grounds this weekend has also seen Pirates’ rugby week 6 opponents, Mutoni Warriors at the losing edge, thanks to Kevin Markmot’s two good penalty kicks, Etuket Denis’ try and brilliant Ivan Magomu penalty.

Brian Seruyange scored Mutoni Warriors’ only try before team-mate Ruben Kihumire’s good drop kick that sent both teams into half time, G4S Pirates leading 14-8. Second half later got underway, G4S Pirates sealing their second league victory out of six, courtesy of Manzi Collins’ try and Ivan Magomu’s conversion.

Nile Special Man of the match Ivan Magomu of G4S Pirates was extremely delighted at his perfomance of the day that paid off some goodies and an accolade from the league sponsors. “New boots, good game, man of the match, hope more of these come around,” Magomu remarked after the game.”Indeed this game was dedicated to Madiba Nelson Mandela,” he added.
