Zambia Vs Burundi – Municipal Stadium, Mombasa

The battle for a place in the semi-finals of the GOtv Cecafa Cup 2013 resumes Sunday 8 afternoon when guest team Zambia takes on the Swallows of Burundi in the third quarter final match at Municipal Stadium, Mombasa.

Zambia earned their place in the last eight by topping group B which interesting also had Burundi who earned their ticket to the quarters as second best third placed team in the tournament.

The Chipolopolo drew 1-1 with Tanzania in the opening game before 1-0 and 4-0 triumphs over Burundi and Somalia respectively in their last group games while Burundi won just once against Somalia (2-0) and lost narrowly to Zambia and Tanzania (1-0).

Zambia Coach Patrice Beaumelle is expected to ring many changes from the side that played the group games but goal keeper Toaster Nsabata may reclaim his place after Joshua Titima featured in the last group game against Somalia.

The Chipolopolo will look up to experienced Felix Katongo for creativity if they are to break a resilient Burundi backline that has only conceded twice this campaign.

Leading scorer Festus Mbewe with three goals, Bornwell Mwape and Ronald Kampamba will lead the hunt for goals with skipper Bronson Chama keeping things tight at the back.

Meanwhile, Burundi Coach Lofty Naseem is expected to reinstate danger man Fiston Abdul into the starting team with skipper Christopher Nduwagira manning the midfield.

Goal keeper Arthur Arakaza who has already staked his claim on the tournament’s golden gloves with impressive performances is expected to be key if his side is to progress to the semis.

The winner of the tie meets either Ethiopia or Sudan in the last four.
