Record champions, Makerere University would wish to extend that unprecedented record of 11 titles in as many editions but the defending champions, Ndejje University, new sporting power house Kampala University , perennial contenders , Nkumba University plus the hosts will all provide a serious battle.

With more medals guaranteed in field events as swimming, track and field athletics, most universities have now garnered more effort to fine tuning their squads towards recording the best times and scores in such events to scoop more golds, silvers and bronze accolades in activities.
