It’s been quite a long and memorable journey for the whole DMark Kobs team but a break has finally come. Into the Christmas and New Year’s festive season they go, still top of the 2013/2014 Nile Special Rugby Premiership League table, thanks to a brilliant half season of no loss, neither a draw, but victories all through.

Their 7th triumph did not come all that easy on a chilly Saturday evening, last weekend.

DMark Kobs maintained their winning ways even away from home, overcoming Toyota Buffaloes 25-09 at Kyadondo Rugby Football Club(KYRFC). Toyota Buffaloes played with dread and anxiety in the first 20 minutes, keeping the visitors in their own half. However, Kobs finally made it to the Buffaloes half, mounting pressure that resulted a Ronald Musajja Try. Kobs’ Patrick Leku sustained an injury and was later replaced by Ivan Mugirya.

Ronald Musajja later came through, with another try muscling his way through the Buffaloes defense. James Ijongat made a good conversion before Kobs’ Joseph Aredo set up another try for Cyrus Wathum. At the breather, the scores read Toyota Buffaloes 00 Dmark Kobs 17.

Buffaloes James Odong was taken off injured, in the second half and replaced with Solomon Okia after Phillip Pariyo’s hope-giving good penalty kick that earned the home side 3 points.

Kobs’ Ramathan Govule scored a bonus point try before another Phillip Pariyo penalty that highlighted his glowing career for Buffaloes this season. The home side(Buffaloes) showed a lot of attacking intent and resilience in defense though seemed to fade towards the 80th minute.

Eventually, it could be remembered as an evening ‘the Kobs haunted the Buffaloes’ beating them 25-09.Nile Special Man of the Match, Brian Odongo of DMark Kobs.

Joseph Aredo, one of the key men in the DMark Kobs team this season told Kawowo Sports that this particular Saturday victory served as a sufficient motivation, ahead of the second round next year.

“It’s a sigh of relief having won all our 7 games, the team is really in high spirit especially after Saturday’s game,” he said. “I believe we can keep top position next year because second round is going to be much harder since we are the team to beat and we are not getting our foot off the pedal,” he added.
