Uganda Netball Team, The She Cranes has is never new to travelling long road distances for tournaments. Mid 2013, the team traveled over 5000 Kilometers from Kampala to the Malawian city of Blantyre for the African Nations Netball Championships.

This time round, the She Cranes is set to travel a ‘shorter version’ of over 700 km road journey from Kampala to the Indian Ocean town of Zanzibar for the 2014 Mapinduzi peace netball tournament.

A contingent of 12 players including 4 officials has been already named and they are set to travel close to 700 km by Sunday morning. The Mapiduzi tournament is meant to celebrate the 50 years of Tanganyika’s independence.

There are quite a number of other sporting activities that have taken place to celebrate the event. Already, Uganda football teams, URA and KCC are playing in the football version while the national basketball, Volleyball (beach volleyball) and handball will be also participating in their respective events.
