Ahmed Hussein has been appointed the new Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) official Spokesman. The development comes just 72 hours after the shocking resignation of Rogers Mulindwa, who spent 9 years and 23 days as the Federation publicist.

“Yes, i have accepted my new position as FUFA spokesman and i believe i will deliver to the best of my ability”, Hussein spoke to Kawowo Sports, in a telephone interview, just minutes after the federation secretariat passed on the news to the different media groups.

In a press statement dated Sunday, 12th January 2014, issued by the Federation Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Edgar Watson, Hussein, who has a vast knowledge in sports media dissemination having spent close to 10 years as a Radio Presenter with City Station, Sanyu F.M replaces Rogers Mulindwa, who resigned the post on 9th January 2014 citing dictatorial tendencies of the Federation boss, Moses Magogo, among other factors.

“The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) hereby informs the football fraternity and the media that Mr. Ahmed Hussein has with immediate effect being appointed the FUFA Spokesman”, the statement reads.

“Therefore, all matters about FUFA in this regard should be henceforth be refered to him. We believe that the entire football family will immensely benefit from his appointment. Any assistance rendered to him is highly appreciated”, concludes the statement stamped though not signed by the, Edgar Watson Ssubi, the Chief Executive Officer, says.

Hussein inherits a position that entails airing about the official stand of the football federation concerning various matters. His predecessor, Rogers Mulindwa, threw in the towel citing various egoistic, personal and administrative differences with his boss, Moses Magogo.

Hussein’s immediate task would be to polish up the otherwise dented image of the football federation, disseminate information to the various local and global media groups.

Hussein heads the Uganda Olympic Committee media commission, owns a private media firm, Ham Agency, he is an official with FUFA super league side, Bright Stars Football Club from Kawempe and harbors a wealthy bulk of public relations and media management having worked as a sports presenter for more than 10 years dealing with the various sporting federations in the country and beyond.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
