Reports from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA)’s appointment of the new official spokesperson, Ahmed Hussein have been equally shocking as that of the untimely resignation of his predecessor, Rogers Mulindwa.
Hussein’s nomination as the new Federation spokesman has been received with mixed reactions across the divide of the vastly critical football fraternity in this soccer mad nation – Uganda.
Kawowo Sports’ David Isabirye critically assesses the situation and conditions under which a ‘bullet-proof’ Hussein another totally media friendly personality, like Mulindwa approaches.
Upon announcing his resignation to the post he held for a complete 9 year reign and 23 days, Rogers Mulindwa is on record quoted to have cited ‘shortage of information’ to disseminate to the media, dictatorial tendencies from the FUFA President, Moses Magogo, unsatisfactory accountability of funds among many other reasons he forwarded for his untimely resignation.
In comes, Ahmed Hussein, another gentleman whose clean record in the media circles for the close over 11 years speaks volume of the Kawempe based football administrator.
For Starters, Hussein is one of the administrators at the FUFA super league debuting club, Bright Stars. His close interaction with almost all the media groups; electronic and print is a great bonus for the man, who has done a lot of publicity work with Uganda Beach Soccer Association and Uganda Olympic Committee, infact, he heads the media committee at the latter.
The billion dollar question perhaps remains; how will Hussein quickly adapt to the pressure of the seat he has inherited from another man of experience?
While handing in his resignation, Rogers Mulindwa cited across section of factors that forced him out including poor working conditions and lack of information to give out. How sure is Hussein that he will get access to it.
Hussein, a clean gentleman who has previously openly come out to castigate and condemn the ‘incorrect deeds’ of the Federation is one person who will always stand by the truth and disagree with you on principal.
So the question remains, will Hussein and his working team be ready to assimilate federation weaknesses or will he sweep the dirt under the carpet like many of the compromised former critics.
On the record, the Current FUFA regime headed by Moses Magogo is on a transition. “I would wish to take this game (football) in the country to another level”, it is Magogo’s most said statement.
Administratively, he is up to the task to make amendments in the official bearing positions and responsibilities. Foe instance, no federation official is to hold two offices like Rogers Mulindwa’s case was. Being a football delegate and the FUFA spokesman.
Majority have wished Hussein a successful journey whereas a cross section of pundits, fans and other football administrators have openly come out to condemn the man at the helm of media affairs at Uganda Olympic Committee.
As it stands, Is Hussien’s appointment as FUFA spokesman a bridging tool to lure the ‘wild’ beneficial personalities, those envisaged as the pillars to take the game to another level or is he surely a sacrificial lamb?
Over to you.
