Nigeria Vs Mozambique – 9.00pm (EAT) @ Cape Town stadium – Live on SS4

Pre-tournament favourites Nigeria must beat Mozambique in their second game of the 2014 Africa Nations Championship if they are to avoid a shocking early exit from the competition.

The Super Eagles lost their opener 2-1 to Mali and will be out to make amends against arguably the weakest team in the group.

Mozambique lost to hosts South Africa 3-1 despite taking the lead and knows that only victory against Stephen Keshi’s side at Cape Town stadium on Wednesday will keep their hopes of reaching the last eight arrive.

Mambas Coach Joao Chisano is a relaxed man ahead of the tie insisting pressure is on the African Champions something that will favour his underdog side.

“The Eagles are the big brothers in Africa, the African champions and the coach is the African Coach of the Year, we don’t have any of those accolades, so pressure is on Nigeria, not Mozambique,” said Chisano.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, on the other hand, said his team had a bad day against Mali, but he expects them to now focus on the Mozambique match.

“I must admit that only three players played well in the last game and that was why we lost. We expect 11 players to play well on Wednesday for us to get the result we want,” said Keshi.

Both teams have met 12 times at full international level, Nigeria have won 9 times and 3 ended in a draw.

And both are now looking for their first win in this competition as they are both making their debuts.

A loss for either side will automatically send them packing with a game to spare.
