South Africa 1-1 Mali

South Africa and Mali played to a one all draw in their second game of group A played at Cape Town stadium on Wednesday evening.

Bernard Parker opened the scoring for the hosts in the 25th minute from a spot kick after Cameroonian referee Maly Souley Mohamadou awarded the hosts a penalty after winger Lindokuhle Mbatha was adjudged to have been fouled in the area.

Ten minutes after recess, Mali equalized through Abdoulaye Sidibe and the final whistle went without more goals added.

The draw leaves both sides tied on top with four points but Bafana Bafana lead with a better goal difference (+2) against Mali’s (+1).

With Nigeria beating Mozambique 4-2 in the other group game, it sets up a cracking group decider between the Super Eagles and the hosts.

Mali now look favourites to top the group as they face the group’s whipping boys Mozambique in the final game.
