At a glamorous awards day event held at Emerald Hotel in Kampala, the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) officially released the list of the new rankings of pool players in the country.
19 year old Fahad Ssewankambo who plays for Skin Samona pool club is now the top seeded pool male player in the country while Kyadalu’s Vivian Kagoya Musiitwa is the ladies’ top seed.
“It is an honour to be the top seeded player in the country. I will deal with the pressure to perform to my best as the top seed”, a press shy Fahad, dethroned fellow clubmate, Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumikiriza revealed to Kawowo Sports shortly after being named the Association’s top pool player in the country.
On her part, Kagoya said, the award as top seeded pool lady player is long over due. “I have always wanted this award and thanks to God, i have made it”, a visibly excited Kagoya, who plays with Kyadalu pool club said.
The event that was held at Emerald Hotel gardens in Kampala also saw the other top performing players, clubs, officials and media personalities rewarded.
Glittering wooden plaques, medals, cash prizes, trophies, lots of delicious food, drinks, the fashion statements, unending entertainment and obviously fun partying constituted the already rich menu on the day’s agenda.
Red Pepper Publications Reporter, Katongole Kiwanuka was named the best pool reporter for the year 2013 while Tom Kasumba was named best pool umpire.
“It is an honor to be named the best person in the media that covered pool in 2013. I will continue to serve the fraternity with one heart”, Katongole, who also smiled home with Ug X. 100, 000 told the guests.
“Like it has always been, the pool day is that time to merry make and be happy all the evening with unending entertainment. We thank all the sponsors, players and the media”, said the Pool Association of Uganda Publicist, Michael Mawanda.
The second edition of the Pool Association of Uganda Magazine was also launched by the Secretary general of the National Council of Sports, Jasper Aligawesa, who was also the chief guest.
“Continue to live exemplary, better things are ahead of this sport in the country. We are looking forward to see we help the association acquire another venue for the national championships having realized Lugogo is becoming smaller for the over 2000 fans that grace the final day championships”, Aligawesa remarked amidst applause from the guests, pool players and other officials of the sport.
Farouk Kisuze the Association President commended the sponsors and all stake holders in the pool sport, the players, media and national council of sports for the close partnership in running the association’s affairs.
There was more than enough entertainment, drinks, foods and musician Tuff B capped up a memorable evening with an energetic thrilling performance.
The day was exclusively organised by the Pool Association of Uganda (P.A.U) and is sponsored by Nile Breweries under the champion brand, Nile Special Lager.
