Uganda Cranes winger, Martin Kayongo Mutumba will see his new club open up second round fixture of the Turkish top tier with Ankara Ondokuz Mayis club this weekend.
The Swedish born Ugandan international who started his career in Vasalunds IF as a young child, will be looking forward to making his debut with the Rize based club, Caykur Rizespor Kulubu.
Mutumba penned down a two and half years contract with Rizespor Kulubu club this month.
Rizespor who ended first round in 15th position with 16points and scored 3goals in the last five games, will be looking on Martin Kayongo Mutumba, Tresor Lomuna Lualua, Leonard Kweuke, Koray Altinay, Tevfik and David Desperits in search for goals in this last round of the league.
Rizespor is 25pionts below table leaders Fenerbahce and just 4points above bottomed Kayseri Erciyesspor who is tied with Kayserispor at 12points apiece.
Kayongo’s first opponents of the season, Gaziantepspor fc are 12th with 21 points collected from 6 wins and 3 draws.
In other fixtures of the league, Kasimpasa hosts Kayserispor on Friday, Bursaspor play home to Eskisehirspor on Saturday before Besiktas travel toTrabzonspor.
In other matches Galatasaray play away to Gaziantepspor on Sunday while former Hassan Wasswa Biruma’s Kayseri Erciyesspor host Antalyaspor.
Mutumba is second cousin with former footballer Moses Nsubuga who played for IF Elfsborg and lost his left leg in a car accident 1997.
In January 2012, Mutumba got a Ugandan passport and was summoned in the Uganda national team squad that faced Congo Brazzaville in the Africa Cup of Nations (2013) qualifiers. However, he didn’t play spending all the 90 minutes on bench. Later in June that year, Mutumba made his debut in the Uganda national team that played an away World Cup (2014) qualifier with Angola on 3 June 2012.
The 28 year old Mutuba who has only six caps on the cranes team, in recent times intimidated to quit international football claiming to be given little time to play in national games.
