The hunt for a semi-final berth continues in the 2014 African Nations Championship when Gabon take on Libya in the third quarter final of the competition.

Only two spots are available for grabs after Nigeria and Zimbabwe beat Morocco (4-3) and Mali (2-1) respectively in the first two quarter finals on Saturday.

Gabon finished top of Group D with victories over DR Congo and Mauritania despite a barren draw with Burundi.

Gabon coach Stephane Bounguendza has spoken in the week of his side’s readiness to face Libya, and his confidence that they can get a positive result.

On the other hand, Libya have also been impressive in the group stages and showed fantastic character in their last group game when they came from two goals down against Congo to secure the point they needed to advance to the quarterfinals.

They can also take plenty of heart from their drawn match against Ghana in the pool, as well as a comprehensive 2-0 victory over fancied Ethiopia.

This will be the third ever meeting between the two sides, with Libya leading the head-to-head 2-1.

Gabon did gain victory in the previous encounter though a World Cup qualifier in 2008

The winner of the tie meets the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the semi-finals.
