Team Uganda may have endured a cumbersome time at the on-going ICC World Cup Qualifier but Deus Muhumuza’s has even been tenser.

The 24-year-old’s international bowling career was almost over after he was reported for suspected bowling action by umpires Michael Gough, Ahsan Raza and Joel Wilson following his side’s seven-wicket loss to the Netherlands at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui 11 days ago.

But the right-arm medium pacer was found to employ a legal bowling action after undergoing a Home Board Analysis of his action.

“This is now a bit of relief for me,” Muhumuza told Kawowo Sports from the team base at the Trinity Whalf Hotel at Tauranga.

“The team has not been doing well but I hope I can now bowl some decisive spells and steer our side.”

Under the Regulations, he was required to submit to a Home Board Analysis, with a written report of the outcome of the analysis provided to the ICC within seven days.

After the Home Board Analysis was completed, it was revealed that Muhumuza displays hyper extension in his bowling arm which he is unable to control and it concluded that there was nothing illegal in his current bowling action. As such, Muhumuza is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket and will be one of the available options for skipper Davis Karashani when Uganda plays Canada in a decisive play-off at the Bay Oval 1 on today.
