Upon being elected the New President of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), Jack Wavamunno, who is also the founding president of the body that dates as far back as 1999 is optimistic he will restore the fast fading image of the federation.

Wavamuuno, the younger brother Sir Gordon Wavamuuno clinched the presidence after polling 39 votes to Kisitu ‘Article’ Mayanja’s 29 and the ten-time national motocross champion, Arthur Blick who tailed with a dismissal 18 votes by the close of the electon process conducted at Silver Springs Bugolobi on Saturday.

For Starters, the motosport year 2013 was not short of excitement for the fans and drivers but the banning of several drivers by the Federation of Motorsport Union (FMU), an act that tainted a bad image of the union.

‘Surely, its time to get back to the drawing board and get the work started. It is time to forget the factions and we work as a unit”, Wavamuuno told Kawowo Sports, minutes after the peaceful elections.

Motorsport Promo president, Dusman Okee, got 37 votes, beating FMU outgoing treasurer Herbert Rutagwera by five votes while Bryan Tumusiime had six votes.

Katende Mukiibi is vice President in charge of Rallying, Fred Masadde Kabuye will deputize in charge of Vintage, touring and safety while Joseph Mwangala is vice president in charge of Motorcycling.
