After capturing the signature of Ugandan defender cum midfielder Ivan Anguyo, KRA Coach Ken Kenyatta has likened him to Ghana and AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien.

Anguyo penned a one and half year deal with the newly promoted side after being released by reigning Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC.

“He can play in a variety of positions including central defense and defensive midfield just like Micheal Essien. If you watched Essien play under Mourinho at Chelsea and Real Madrid, you’ll notice that he could switch into several positions during a game,” Kenyatta is quoted by futaa.com.

Kenyatta further added that Anguyo will add quality and experience to the side something that will help groom the debutant players in the top tier.

“Anguyo brings that quality which is very important for my team, besides the important fact that he has the experience and exposure in the top flight and will thus assist my players.”

Anguyo has won a number of trophies during his stint at Gor Mahia including the KPL title and GOtv shield cups.

He also scooped personal honours being voted the best defender in the KPL in the 2012 season.

KRA open their 2014 season with an away match to Mbaraki, where they will face Bandari on Sunday 16 February.
