Gor Mahia (Kenya) Vs Bitam (Gabon) – Nyayo stadium
Ahead their clash with Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC in the preliminary round first leg of the 2014 CAF Champions league, US Bitam Coach Francois Omam Biyik has singled out Ugandan striker Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma as major threat to his side’s ambitions.
The ex-Cameroon international who scored the lone goal that sunk Diego Maradona led Argentina at the 1990 World Cup said that Sserunkuma is a deadly striker and likened him to an animal that fights till it breaks your heart referring to him as the pulse of the team.
“That stocky, dread-locked striker is the pulse (of that team),” stated Biyik as quoted by Sporton.nation.ke
“He (Sserunkuma) is an animal that fights and fights and can break your heart… presumably he’s fired up by the team (Gor) fans, who make a lot of noise for long spells. I will have to work on the mental state of my players ahead of the clash,” he added.
Biyik is one of Africa’s greatest footballers of all time and made his name with Olympic Marseille, Rennes and Cannes in the French top flight.
Coached by ex-Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson, Gor Mahia have four Ugandans in their ranks that include Sserunkuma, Geoffrey Kizito, Godfrey Walusimbi and Israel Emuge.
