Week 13 Rugby Fixtures:

MTN Heathens 13 – 14 D’Mark Kobs

Toyota Buffaloes 34 – 15 Ezee Money Rhinos

G4S Pirates 20 – 16 Mutoni Warriors

Every time these two sides meet, it has never been a friendly battle. Arguably the two biggest rugby teams in the country, MTN Heathens and D’Mark Kobs have always had their unsolved issues to settle.

Saturday presented such another platform for the two teams to finish up their egos, especially so that the champions elect, D’mark Kobs had already cinched the crown with two more fixtures to go.

The rugby fans of the two sides including the game loyalists never disappointed as they thronged the Kyadondo venue in swarms and every bit of the 80 minute action was screamed at.

Kobs, 19-11 winners of the first leg at the Legends rugby club showed character and urgency for an early go. Musajjagulanyago got the games opening try and a Joseph Aredo penalty for Kobs to give the Kampala Old Boys’ team an 8- 6 half time lead as Phillip Wakoroach had narrowed the gap with two well converted penalties.

The two teams returned with different agendas for the second half and fans were kept on tenterhooks with unending excitement, breathtaking tackles and the fluidity of the passing left many awed.

By the final blow of referee Kelele’s closing whistle, every one was on pressure as the MTN Heathens had mounted a late attack including a late missed kick that would have absolutely changed the final script. 13 – 14 it ended in favour of the Champions, Kobs with another weekend of rugby action to come.

In the other games played, Isaac Rugamba was voted man of the match as G4S Pirates eased their relegation worries with that narrow 20 – 16 triump at the hands of Mutoni Warriors while Toyota Buffaloes had earlier whipped the Ezee Money Rhinos 34 – 15 in the first fixture of the day played at Kyadondo.

League action climaxes next weekend with week 14 games. D’Mark Kobs would wish to cap the season unbeaten as they host Toyota Buffaloes.
