An eye catching gate in one stroke on fairway 6 was one of the highlights as Godfrey Bukenya, holding the woodball mallet only for the second competitive time in life scored en route possessing all the bragging rights at the first corporate event of the year played at the Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Nakawa fairways on Sunday.

“This game takes composure and special skill. Actually, I calculated every stroke that I took”, Bukenya, who was playing for Kisubi Technical Institute told Kawowo Sports in an exclusive interview.

Bukenya, 45, scored 26 strokes with scores of 4, 5, 7, 5, 4 and 1 to take the men’s single event. He also won the mixed doubles event as she combined with MUBS Bursar, Sheila Kasujja with a combined effort of 30 strokes.

The women’s singles event was won St Mark’s Namagooma’s Shannaz Luwedde after returning scores of 26 strokes over the 6 gates played.

Several teams from Bank of Uganda, Ndejje University, Hanna Mixed, Eddobozzi Newspaper, Nkumba University, St Marks College, Namagooma, St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi, Makerere University Bussiness School (MUBS), Iganga Technical Institute and CPA Uganda participated.

The next event on the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) Calendar will be held next weekend with the first beach woodball circuit at Entebbe sports beach on 16th February 2014.

April 13th will see the second corporate woodball event of the year.
