The Lady Volleyball Cranes recovered from the Kenyan lose to win two straight games at the ongoing FIVB World Championship qualifiers, it just a matter time before the next hurdle hinder the fairy tale run.
It took Uganda five sets to win their first game a 3-2 against Seychelles in a game they came from two sets down. Later it was 3-1 against Mozambique; it was expected since they are the weak links in the tournament.
The meeting against Tunisia was a diffident story even though Uganda had won their last game facing a Maghreb nation (Egypt) in straight sets. Tunisia kept their 100 percent of the tournament with a 3-0 win over Uganda.
The latter has a more realistic chance of playing at the world cup than Uganda, if they can overcome Kenya on Friday. Tony Lakony’ side had showed great improvement on their service and cover, but Tunisia’s hard services just made suffocated receivers Eunice Amuron and Josephine Nammanda’s reception.
Tunisia claimed the first set 25-14, but it was the second that really exposed Uganda as the Arabs dissected their opponents winning 25-8. The fight went on and on but couldn’t d little from stopping Tunisia to take the third 25-19.
Uganda’s last game will be against Senegal in Saturday before Kenya sets up a winner takes it all affair with Tunsia. Both Kenya and Tunisia are on 12 points and whoever takes that day will qualify for the World Championships in Italy this September.
