Toro golf club’s Adolf Muhumuza and Ronald Rugumayo returned their best gross scores to remain joint leaders on the second day of action at the Uganda Golf Union national team qualifiers that was held at the par 71 Entebbe club this afternoon.
Muhumuza returned a score of 79 and 75 gross with a total of 224 over 36 holes at the very gruelling unpredictable 18 hole course his club mate Rugumayo, maintained a cool composure to return with a similar gross score after playing 76 and 73 in the morning and the afternoon play.
Entebbe’s Patrick Mwaka and Toro’s Robert Otile were third and fourth with scores of 227 gross after an impressive round of 75, 74 and 74 and 72 over the 36 holes on the day.
A total 30 golfers made the cut for tomorrow’s decisive action that will see all of them playing over 18 holes with the national selectors the UGU cutting the squad to 20 players after tomorrow’s round of action.
Uganda Open winner Peter Ssendaula and golfer of the year Willy Deus Kitata, returned with 228 and 236 respectively.
The qualifiers are being used to selected a formiable national squad to represent the nation at the Zone Six and Africa Junior championships due in South Africa and Zambia to be held next month.
