Close to 200 golfers are expected to hit the course this Friday and Saturday at the annual Hima Cement Captain’s Prize golf tournament that will be held at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club at Kitante.

The tournament that is held by the captain of the Uganda Golf Club will see close to 19 professional golfers play on Friday to a tune of 5 million shillings while the main event will be held on Saturday with club captain’s from club’s all of the country and other golfers contesting for a tournament that is worth 60 million Uganda Shillings in prizes.

“Hima Cement has been part of the Golf fraternity for over a decade now, we are honored to sponsor sucha a prestigious tournament,” said Hima Cement’s General Manager Daniel Pettersson at the unveiling of the sponsorship at Golf Course Hotel this morning. “This partnership is a great opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on the sports community and we are proud of the evidence that the game of golf continues to grow in this country.”

The event will be the last for the out-going captain at the Uganda Golf Club, Charles Katarikawe, whose term in office ends next Saturday. “Hima has been the most reliable partner for over 10 years now. We are pleased to once again receive Hima Cement as the title sponsor of the Captain’s Prize tournament.”
