The Zuku University Basketball League was officially launched on Thursday. Before its launch a few games had already been played (one conference and the others off-conference) at three different universities (Makerere, Uganda Christian University and Uganda Martyrs University) and the games head to Ndejje University – Luwero campus today.
The Kisubi Brothers take the court first against UCU. While the Kisubi Brothers are the one of the weakest sides in the inaugural league, UCU is one of the strongest and contenders for the crown. Uganda Christian University will have no trouble dispatching off the Brothers.
Kampala University has been a strong side in the University Football League since its start but what about basketball? Can they be as competitive? The response will be got when they face St. Lawrence University that can be competitive (against their match) going by their game with Makerere a couple weeks ago.
St. Lawrence will complete their schedule for the day against host Ndejje that are another strong side in the league and contenders for that. Ndejje has won all their games since the tipoff of the league and St. Lawrence is not one of those sides that can stop or even match the hosts.
In the off conference fixture of the day, Uganda Martyrs Universty will be up against Cavendish University (men and women) while UCU’s men’s side will play Kampala University.
