IAAF World Half Marathon

Copenhagen, Denmark
Daniel Rotich will lead Uganda’s team of six to the IAAF World Half Marathon slated for this Saturday in the Copenhagen city of Denmark.
“ It is a blessing to lead my members, but all I can say now are prayers to God that He guides us well as we travel to Denmark and we win”, a press shy Rotich spoke to Kawowo Sports at the Uganda Athletics Federation head offices on Wednesday morning during a special sendoff event.
At the same event, Brussels Airlines offered 6 return air tickets to the traveling contingent that has five men and 1 woman.
“This is a timely offer. In fact, it marks the renewal and new beginning with Brussels Airlines”, Dominic Otuchet, President of Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) remarked.
This was the second time since 2005 when Brussels Airlines rescued the athletics team that was stranded with travel complications prior a continental championship.
“We are trying to work with various sports federations in Uganda to help make travel look as cheap as possible”, Gerrt Lemmen, Brussels country manager said in his brief speech.
No official will travel with the team since the available slot was sacrificed for a lady athlete Linnet Chebet.
The previous championships were held in Kavarna, Bulgaria and Uganda’s Jackson Kiprop was 7th overall while Nathan Ayeko finished 19th out of the over 2000 entries that registered.
