Ten schools will be battling for overall honours this Saturday at the Aga Khan School’s swimming gala at Upper Kololo in an event that is one of the biggest on the Uganda Swimming Federation calendar.
“It’s a major event that is held annually and this time around the volume is higher than last year,” Tony Kasujja a swimming coach from Aga Khan School said. “It’s a major event were we spotted some of the best young swimmers for the nation and this year the competition will be highly competitive like usual.”
Kampala Parents School has entered 50 swimmers with International School of Uganda next with 46 swimmers on their contingent, Rainbow International School of Uganda has entered 43 while Aga Khan School has entered 39.
Kampala Junior Academy has entered a record 52 swimmers for the gala.
The gala is event that is mean’t for kids between the age of 9-14 years of age and has attracted national junior swimmers like Namutebi Kirabo, the 9 year old Uganda Sports Press Swimmer of the Year together with last year’s swimmer of the year Tendo Mukalazi.
It will be a perfect build-up for the junior national swimmers ahead of the CANA III and IV swimming championships to be held at the Kampala Parents School from April 24-27.
The one day swimming gala will have a total of 54 swimming events on show.
