1st Kabaka’s Race:
6th April 2014
7:30AM – 10AM
Registration: 10,000/= (Individuals) and 1,000,000/= (Corporates)
There are barely 5 days to the long waited Kabaka Mutebi II’s 57th birthday run. For starters, this race will take place on the 6th April 2014 with the 5, 10 and 21 KM events around the Kingdom’s historical and most prominent points.
The race was initiated by the Buganda Kingdom sports and health ministries in a bid to help patients of the Fistula disease (among women). Over the weeks, the hype toward this race has been built and developed by the respective media.
Vision group led the media drive in collaboration with the other media houses including yours truly, Kawowo Sports in the country to raise the awareness about the race to the people.
There are a billion reasons that i would front why you need to participate in this race:
Health Concerns:
The major objective of this race is tilted along improving the health of women in the country especially those affected by the fistula disease. Close to 200,000 women in Uganda are silently affected by the disease that is brought about by a cross section of factors like rape, early pregnancies, complicated deliveries (births) among other causes.
To save a life or two, I would encourage you to participate in this race. You may never know, the sweat emitted would save your sister, daughter, nephew, in-law, friend or even your enemy.
For personal health reasons, it is incumbent upon you to fight obesity with a run around the still Kampala Rubaga, Kabaka Ajajagala road, Lubiri, Nakulabye and all those hilly zones that can make your breathing, blood circulation and food metabolism better.
Power of networking:
At such races, it is one opportune moment for me to meet those company Chief Execuctive Officers (CEO’s) who have always been afloat and distant from me in a long time as they are busy in offices and at other tasks.
Close to 50 different companies have registered and my God, those are 50 different CEO’s i will come face to face with. Meeting new people with different developmental ideologies will be another target from the race that is expected to draw close to 3000 people.
The Fun:
For sheer fun and enjoyment, majority of people are gearing the race for an early morning way of killing the week long stress, away from the office work loads, complicated tasks and the fixed routine at work.
From musicians, already Bobi Wine will run, politicians, businessmen, doctors, lawyers, I.T specialists, journalists, statisticians, drivers, engineers, sportsmen to the ordinary lay men, all will be one block, running for one cause – to save fistula victims.
Kabaka’s wish:
When the Kabaka suggests and wishes (Kabaka asiimye ), so it should be for all his subjects and some of us the well wishers. Who will i be to go against Kabaka Mutebi’s wishes.
Kabaka asiimye, we respect, we obey and oblige. I will run, will you????
