Ugandan born Swede Norah Kagonyera, who last week finished fifteenth at the Sunshine Ladies Tour Zambia Ladies Open at the Ndola Golf Club, is expected to rise in the Order of Merit standings.
Currently Norah Kagonyera is ranked number 23 out of 42 Ladies on the tour and is expected to rise once the new standings come out soon.
The Swedish based player shot a score of 78, 75 and 80 for a total of 233 will most likely rise in the standings. She is the first Ugandan lady golfer to play on the professional ladies golf tour.
The tournament that the first on the tour to be hosted by the Zambia Ladies Golf Union was worth 50 million South African Rands and was won by Stacy Bregman from South Africa on her first attempt.
Ugandan born Swede Norah Kagonyera, shot a score of 78, 75 and 80 for a total of 233 to finish 13th at the Sunshine Ladies Tour Zambia Ladies Open at the Ndola Golf Club which is an 18 hole course and which run from March 28-30 2014.
It was the seventh tournament for Kagonyera, who is based in Sweden and Kenya as she becomes the first Uganda lady golfer to play on the ladies professional golf tour and is also the first East African golfer to be ranked in the Order of Merit.
The two time Uganda Ladies Open winner who is a cousin to the golf legend Dedan Kagonyera, won 16,913 equivalent to 4 million 48 thousand Uganda Shillings however that alone will boost her position and her standing in the Order of Merit.
She has earned 12,550 South Africa Rands after playing in six tournaments minus the Zambian Ladies Open.
Kagonyera thinks many ladies would play golf in Uganda, but the young ones still have a negative attitude about the money and time.
Her plan is to involve schools like she is currently doing in Kenya supporting the Rose Naliaka golf academy.

She has featured in the Sunshine Ladies tour in Houghton, South Africa were she finished eighth in February. Other tour events she has taken part include Sunshine Ladies tour in Lost City, the Sunshine Ladies Tour in Glendower, the Sunshine Ladies tour in Els Club, Sunshine Ladies Tour Obs and the Sunshine Ladies Tour in Blue Vall all in South Africa
