The Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick made a surprise debut at the Uganda Swimming Federation’s Masters Swimming Event over the weekend at the Gems Cambridge International School in Butabika.
Blick, who had come to close the one event was swayed by the event and the participants who were taking part in the second Masters swimming event that was being organised by Uganda Swimming Federation.
The UOC boss swam in the 40 years and above 25 metres freestyle finishing seventh out of eight swimmers in a time of 00.23.25 the event was won by former Uganda Rugby Union president Andrew Owiny in a time of 00.14.78 while Uganda Swimming Federation president Don Rukare, was second in a time of 00.15.42
The vice president of the federation Peter Mugisha was third with a time of 00.15.64 in a thrilling event that had several senior swimmers taking part in the one day fun-filled competition that was sponsored by Dstv and Rwenzori Mineral Water.
The Uganda Swimming Federation will be sending a swimming team for the 15th FINA World Masters Championship from July 27-August 10 in Montreal, Canada.
