Kenya Premier League giants AFC Leopards have parted ways with Head Coach James Nandwa following a poor start to the 2014 campaign.

This comes in the wake of his side’s 1-0 loss to new comers Kenya Revenue Authority in a KPL game played on Thursday afternoon.

Ingwe has won just two out of eight league games in the 2014 season scoring a meager three goals thus sit 10th on the 16 team log and bowed out of the 2014 CAF Confederations Cup after losing to Supersport United of South Africa in the first round stage.

Also sent packing was his assistant Mickey Weche, leaving only goalkeeper trainer Washington Muhanji who is expected to be in charge when team face Nairobi City Stars in their next game.

On his replacement, the club secretary General George Aladwa stated: “AFC Leopards has today appointed Washington Muhanji as an acting coach with immediate effect replacing James Nandwa and Mickey Weche. We will be unveiling a new coach next week,” Sporton reports.

It is believed that Leopards have already concluded talks with Italian Emmanuele Filippini who is expected to be unveiled next week.

Nandwa guided the club to the GO TV Shield Cup last season beating Gor Mahia FC in the finals and also helped the finished second in the KPL.

Nandwa has spent just six months at the club after replacing Belgian Luc Eymael in September last year who was sacked due to poor performance. His success in the domestic cup and league earned him a two-year contract.

He becomes the fifth KPL coach to be sacked this season after Francis Baraza (Western Stima), Oliver Page (Top Fry Nakuru), Salim Ali (Ulinzi Stars) and Robinson Ofuokwu (City Stars) all faced the axe.

AFC Leopards is home to Ugandan international Musa Mudde who was signed by Nandwa in the January window.
