The entire AFCON 2015 campaign has been earmarked to cost Ug. Shs 8 billion.
Speaking at the Uganda Cranes official launch of the campaign, FUFA’s financial director, Decolas Kiiza revealed.
“We expect to use about 8 billion in the entire campaign”, Kizza told the media at FUFA house on Thursday.
Television rights, sponsors, government, match day tickets, sale of merchandise, donations from corporate and well wishers are some of the sources he outlined streamlined to raise the money needed.
“We expect about 1.4 billion from sponsors, 200M from TV rights, 250M from ticket sales, about 1M from sale of FUFA Merchandise and other sources as well”, he added.
Decolas however clarified that they estimated budgetary expenses overrides the income and the federation is thus left with a deficit.
“We have engaged government early enough because as you look at the expenses planned for home and away matches, the balance is in deficit”, he said. The financial director preached good accountability for all the money received and spent.
