Team Uganda looked smart and confident as they received the national flag at the Entebbe club ahead of the Zone IV Golf championships due on April 14-17 at the Devonvale Golf and Wine Estate in Cape Town, South Africa.

“We are going into this tournament feeling confident and have invested alot in the team and we  believe we shall return with good results this time around,” Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the Uganda Golf Union president said at the flag hand over at Entebbe Club. “The Union Committee would like to thank the sponsors who have so far heeded to the call to sponsor its activities and among some of which are sponsorship of the National Team uniforms.”

The team also received an assortment of items that include Golf Polo Shirts, golf trousers, golf shorts, golf shoes, golf socks, golf caps, black blazers, grey trousers, black shoes, locker room bag, golf bag, travel bags.

The team of nine is made up of captain Phillip Kasozi, Gideon Kagyenzi, Lawrence Muhenda, Adolf Muhumuza, Ronald Otile, Willy Deus Kitata, Ronald Rugumayo, Robert Oluba and Happy Robert(Reserve) and their coach Deo Akope.

The team will be led by Uganda Golf Union President Kiryowa Kiwanuka departs on Sunday for South Africa for the tournament. The Zone IV is made up of Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa(defending champions), Swaziland, Lesotho, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The opening round of the team event will Uganda starting it’s action with Singles match play in two balls day two they will play foursome matches in four balls day three Better ball matches in four balls and on the final day singles match play in two balls.

The team received sponsorship from Panyahululu company, Zanghangs group, Saint Augustine International University, Henchang Plastics, Barclays Bank, Kilindi Consulting and Uganda Golf Union.
