Joshua Cheptegei and Winnie Nanyonndo, winners of the month of March Nile Special /Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) monthly sports personality for the month of March have vowed to keep working hard for bigger accolades ahead.

The duo, who won gold medals at the World University Cross Country championships in March were received their plaques and U.sh 500,000 during the monthly USPA dinner at the Lugogo Tennis Courts during the monthly Nile Special / USPA  dinner held on Thursday night at Lugogo Tennis Courts bar.

“This award will keep me going for even greater things because it is an honour to be respected and rewarded by USPA”, Nanyonndo, the 3rd year student of Industrial Art at Kampala University, said.

She scooped gold in the ladies’ category of the 19th World University Cross Country Championships that were held at Entebbe Golf Course in March 2014.

Cheptegei Joy:

Cheptegei, a 1st year student at Bugema University was equally delighted upon having won gold in the men’s cross country championship category.

“This USPA award is special because it inspires me to work even harder for my future”, Cheptegei told Kawowo Sports shortly after receiving his monthly accolade at Lugogo Tennis Courts.

Cheptegei , the second born in the family of 8 targets the world Junior Championships in United States of America (USA) later in July (2014) and the 2015 World Championships.

Cheptegei and  Nayonndo beat NIC netball team and kick boxer, Moses Golola to the month of March Nile Special / USPA sports personality award.

Meanwhile, Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) landed a remarkable three year renewal sponsorship deal worth Ug.sh 460M with Nile Breweries Limited on Thursday morning at the Imperial Royale Hotel.
