Serie B side Sky had the biggest win on the night the NSSF Volleyball League served off at the MTN Arena in Lugogo on Saturday. Sky defeated last Year’s semifinalist Jinja Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-22) as they continue to make their trek to the top tier league.
The women’s fixture was predominantly about UCU Lady Dove’s Easther Tumwebaze. The teenager from St Bridget combined well with setter Eunice Nuwabigaba in the middle. Tumwebaze showed that she is not for the future but the present with her attackers that looked for those loopholes in the KCCA defense.
Once in a while she sweetly dumped when the KCCA side thought she was going to go for power. The match of the day between Serie A holders Nemostars and four-time winners KAVC gave the impression that the top tier league will be longer than the last two for whoever will win it.
Nemostars came from two sets down to defeat KAVC 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-12) in game that both teams struggled to play good volleyball. It all went down on who was fitter that than the other and that show Nemostars came off victors after five lackluster sets it. League returns next weekend at the Mubs grounds in Nakawa.
