Aero Beach in Entebbbe will be the battle field when 38 boxers fight for ten slots available for the July Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth games in Scotland.
While talking to Kawowo Sports on Friday morning, the boxing federation spokesperson Fred Kavuma said that the fights will help them select a fine National team that will represent the country well in different international events this year.
“This event will help us come up with a good team that will participate in upcoming international games”. Fred Kavuma said.
The event that will also act as trials for next month’s Gaborone 2014 African Youth Championship where Uganda will send only five boxers will see Fighters compete in different categories.
The men’s Light fly weight (48kg) category has Kalema Joseph of Cobab Boxing Club, Brian Lwanga from Katwe Boxing Club, Fazil Juma from East Coast Boxing Club and Police’s Moses Kibuka.
The Fly weight (52kg) group has Muhamad Kasimu from East Coast Boxing Club, Ssemitala Rogers from Cobab Boxing Club and Adinan Yasin of Police BC. The Bamtam weight (56kg) has UPDF’s Aldina Muzei, Bashil Nasir of East Coast BC, Christopher Matovu from Police and Emma Nsubuga from Zana BC.
Light weight (60kg) has Moses Mukiibi from Kololo Boxing Club, Abdu Hassan UPDF Boxing Club, Bob Asiya East Coast Boxing Club, and Police’s Reymond Mugisha.
The Light welter (64kg) has Tony Mukiibi from Sakku Boxing Club, Shadir Musa of East Coast Boxing Club and Musa Mugisha KCCA Boxing Club. In the Welter weights (69kg) there is Nassur Bukenya of UPDF Boxing Club, Hamis Ssemakula from East Coast Boxing Club and Yusuf Babu of Cobab Boxing Club.
While the Middle weight (75kg) has Regan Ssimbwa from East Coast Boxing Club and Geofrey Nyeko from Kampala Boxing Club. The Light weight (81kg) has Solomon Geko from Sakku Boxing Club, Sadam Hussein from Police Boxing Club, and Swaib Matovu from the UPDF Boxing Club. The Heavy Weight (91kg) has
