The Kenya Sevens Academy ( Kenya U19s) emerged winners of the first edition of the Sevens On The Nile rugby tournament that took place on good Friday, 18th April at Dam Waters Hippos ground, Jinja.
The Kenya U19 team won all their group games, before thrashing Elephants 19-5 in quarter finals. Kyadondo’s stallions were also beaten by the formidable side 22-5 in the semi finals before booking a final encounter against Rams.
The Kenyan side which is currently preparing for the 2014 youth Olympics proceeded to lift the trophy, Rams succumbing to a 14-0 loss having failed to stop them.
Kyadondo Stallions’ Allan Omoding was named MVP walking away with a shell gas stove, while Steven Anguma was the lucky winner of the Elgon Cup return ticket 2014 courtesy of Air Uganda.
Kenya’s dominance also stretched to the secondary schools competitions that were held on Thursday 17th April, as Kenya’s St.Mathias claimed the trophy, beating Jinja Secondary school by just one point.
Jinja Hippos select junior team had earlier emerged winners with the most points, but could not be classified as a secondary school according to the organisers.
