In the last five years, Peace has averaged over 100 points as a shooter in every tournament she has played in.
And as proof for her consistent and impressive displays, she has won the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Netballer of the Year Award for 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 in the last five years.
Fairing above average in two different disciplines at a go is one of the toughest tasks for many sportsmen these days.
But the manner in which Peace Proscovia balances netball and basketball is quite amazing. Proscovia has not only played both hoop sports concurrently since 2008 but also reached the podium at all fronts.
After shinning in 2013, she was shortlisted by scribes for the Uspa Sports Personality of the year alongside World and Olympic champion Stephen Kiprotich and NRC champion Jas Mangat.
With the winner set to be crowned on the glamorous evening of April 26 at Imperial Royale Hotel, Proscovia only trusts God to beat male duo that was also shortlisted for the 2012 award.
“By God’s mercy, I know I will win it,” a soft spoken Proscovia told Kawowo Sports in a recent interview. “I know I did my best in each discipline and gave my all last year,” she said.
Last year, she was named basketball league MVP after helping UCU Lady Canons in two of the six finals’ games against KCCA Leopards and already, Uspa crowned her best female basketballer.
But after completing her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in November, she will play for Leopards this year. She also helped National Insurance Corporation (NIC) win the national netball league before leading Uganda to a series of successes.
Amid several hardships like lack of refreshments during training, and little or no sponsorship, Proscovia was named best shooter as the She Cranes finished third at the Africa Nations Cup in Malawi.
Earlier in the year, She Cranes reported late for the Mapinduzi Cup but defeated Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya and Namibia to take top honours.
In December, Proscovia forewent exams and it paid as she was again the unsung hero as She Cranes overcame hiccups to beat the hosts Singapore 52-29 in the final to win Six Nations tournament that had also attracted Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, USA and Ireland.
That finish earned Uganda a 14th place FINA ranking and also got She Cranes voted for Nile-Uspa sports personality for December as well as nomination for the team of the year honour.
